How do you know if a dairy product is Australian made/made from Australian milk?

While Australia produces a lot of dairy products, we also import some. It can be hard to know which contain Australian milk, which are made in Australia, and which contain imported ingredients or are made overseas.  

The good news? 'Country of origin' labelling is found on most food you buy at the supermarket, local stores, markets, online or from a vending machine.

Milk and other dairy foods (with the exception of ice cream) are considered 'priority' foods by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and if they were produced or made in Australia, their country of origin label will feature:

• a kangaroo in a triangle logo (Australian Grown logo) to help you quickly identify that the food is Australian in origin
• a bar chart and text identifying the proportion of Australian content in the food. 

All fresh milk on the supermarket shelves comes from Australian cows and farms.  

Just look for these labels on dairy products to make sure you’re buying Australian-made.
